These rules are in no way definitive or final. Notice Rule #1: "OBEY ALL HOUSE RULES." That's because people in different regions play PONG® differently. Some people even use paddles! Anyway, if you disagree with any of these rules, you don't need to write us any hate mail. All you have to do it click CONTACT on this page and simply submit your variations of PONG® rules. To settle all disputes, we recommend posting a Beer Pong Constitution near your beer pong table.
We believe this rule was born somewhere between Boston, MA and Ithaca, NY. In some houses, some people play that if a missed throw somehow comes back to the thrower, that player then gets another shot at their opponents' rack, but he or she must throw the PONG® ball behind the back. Sometimes the ball bounces all over the place and rolls back to the other side under the table or something. It is the defensive team's responsibility to grab that ball and not let it go all the way back. And it's really sweet when you occasionally nail a cup by tossing it behind your back!
This rule has carried over from many sports over many years, possibly originating in ancient Greece. If one team ever beats another team with the losing team sinking exactly zero cups, the losing team must do a naked lap around the house, dormitory, apartment complex, or city block. (Yes, they must strip naked and run a full lap around the building, even if it's snowing.) So don't get shut-out.
Remember NBA JAM for Super Nintendo and SEGA? When you made three baskets in a row, the announcer yelled "He's On Fire!" and then the basketball caught on fire and that player would not miss a shot from anywhere on the court until the other team scored. Well, upon visiting some friends in Greenville, North Carolina, I learned that some people have adapted a similar rule in Beer Pong. When a player makes three shots in a row over three turns, that player gets the ball back and continues throwing until he or she misses. (One major difference: the PONG ball does not automatically catch on fire.)
"Remember to always put enough liquid in all the cups so that it doesn't bounce or slide all around when PONG® balls hit them. Or if you prefer, hold your cups in place with a portOpong or a N-Ice Rack.
Research has shown that self confidence is directly correlated to how much beer people put in their beer pong cups.
DISCLAIMER: We here at PONGSTUFF.COM believe in sportsmanship, integrity, and responsibility. We believe you should always do your best to drop your balls into your opponents' cups and nail their spirits to the wall. In fact, we believe in winning so big that your loser opponents cry all the way home to their mommies.
So c'mon, quit trying to make up your own rules and post a Beer Pong Constitution near your beer pong table.
